The expansion to the existing convention center provided much need new spaces as well as a refresh of the existing exhibit halls. A new two story building containing a grand ballroom, and prefunction spaces was added, as well as a new central utility plant.
The project posed several design challenges including long span trusses over the grand ballroom, long cantilevers at the roof, and strict vibration criteria at the ballroom floor to accommodate dining and dancing.
